So Long Storyland is comprised of singer Sophia Preston and songwriter Andrew deBuys. Sophia and Andrew met each other when Andrew was Sophia’s middle school music teacher. When Andrew decided to pursue music on a full-time basis, he and Sophia starting writing together. In the process of writing and working together, they began to organically form a band, and the rest is history.
So Long Storyland takes their inspiration from New Orleans’ own Storyland in City Park and seek to represent New Orleans and Southeast Louisiana culture in a unique musical way.
They are currently working on a concept record, a song cycle for our city, that spans its history, geography, its triumphs and tragedies – blending folk, bluegrass, pop, rock, electronic and orchestral music together to tell our story.
So Long Storyland have released two singles, “Cassidy” and “Kingdoms and Columns”, both of which are being played on college radio, internet radio, and traditional radio, around the country and internationally. We will be releasing a full-length album in early 2015.
