- 1 1/2 oz Rougaroux Sugarshine Rum
- 1/2 oz Cathead Honeysuckle Vodka
- 1/2 oz Louisiana Sisters Bloody Mary Mix
- 1/4 oz lemon juice
- 2 tbsp Louisiana Sisters Pepper Jelly
- 1 egg white
- 4 dashes El Guapo Bitters Gumbo Bitters
- Garnish with a Louisiana Sisters Olive
Shake over Ice and serve up in a martini glass.
Bitters are the backbone and seasoning of a cocktail. When you think of food, if you don’t put salt and/or pepper or other seasonings on your food it tastes flat, one-dimensional. That’s the function bitters serve in a cocktail. They do bring subtle flavors to the drink, but in general the main function they perform is to act as a flavor enhancer. They amplify and bring out the flavor of the other ingredients and liquors. Bitters also provide the same function when added to food recipes. Our bitters are primarily glycerin based. We extract flavor from ingredients in 3 ways; glycerin, alcohol, and water. We remove all but a trace of the alcohol before bottling. This allows us to give a more concentrated and varied level of flavor than using only 1 extraction method. While there is little alcohol to carry aromas out of the bottle when you smell, once you add it to an alcoholic beverage it “blooms” and all the aroma will become stronger. Our bitters are designed to be able to be used by everyone and for a variety of applications.
